Pocket Photo ™ is a mobile solution that revolutionizes the way professional photographers distribute photographs by significantly reducing the time between capturing photos and delivering them to distribution points such as news agencies, press rooms, resort locations, cruise ships, and the Internet.
Photographers can now take advantage of wireless data transfer to submit photos from remote locations. From the photographer's camera, Pocket Photo transmits digital images via USB cable to a mobile device - typically a PDA-style handheld carried by the photographer. The device uses wireless LAN (802.11b/a/g) or cellular network (GPRS, CDMA, EDGE, EV-DO), whichever the location can support. Because it is a mobile solution, Pocket Photo automatically downloads each photograph to the mobile device and then sends the image to the web site or remote server location designated by the photographer.
The Pocket Photo application resides on a mobile device (Microsoft® Windows® CE and Windows Mobile® operating systems are supported). The mobile device is connected to the photographer’s digital camera via a USB cable and also connected to the desired network (Wi-Fi or cellular). Pocket Photo will automatically detect and download an images captured by the digital camera, tag those images with relevant data (if desired) and then upload those images to the specified network location, whether FTP, website, or other destination directory. Images can be automatically backed up on expansion memory available in the mobile device and/or on the digital camera’s memory card.
Pocket Photo can be delivered in a variety of methods. Several workflow tailored applications are already available – including versions with passive photo management, where the photographer needs only to initially configure the wireless connection and destination for uploading the images and the application handles the rest. Other application versions include scanning bar coded data or magnetic stripe data to correlate images to a specific object, or customer. InVision Software can design and develop a customized version to suit your requirements. Alternatively, software developers and solution integrators may prefer to develop applications specifically for their customers’ unique requirements. In those instances, developers can choose to license the Pocket Photo driver to embed into their own applications, making it easy to enhance their solution to their customers. The driver can be embedded into .NET applications and can be modified to support a variety of digital camera models.
